Professor Hakim will only transplant kidneys that have gone through rigorous vetting by an independent ethics committee in line with the Istanbul Declaration against organ trafficking.

Patients will only be considered for bariatric surgery if they meet the following criteria:
> 18 years old.
BMI > 35 with a co-morbidity and failed to lose weight after 6 months on a supervised programme.
BMI > 40 and failed to lose weight after 6 months on a supervised programme.
BMI >50.
Additionally, all of Professor Hakim's bariatric patients will be referred to a nutritionist for optimised results.
